Turbine BOP
McGuffy Energy Services began manufacturing operations with a dry type engine air filter in 1980. The company further expanded manufacturing capabilities to include Gas Turbine Air Filter Housings, Exhaust Silencers, Stacks & Plenums and eventually complete Intake Filtration Systems and Enclosures (BOP - Balance of Plant). We specialize in the redesign and modification of aging gas turbines providing them with new high efficiency components within existing space limits.
McGuffy can deliver complete design and fabrication of Gas Turbine/Reciprocating Ancillary Package Components. These components can be broadly classified into 3 areas:
Air Intake Systems
For engine, compressor and blower applications McGuffy can provide the entire Air Intake System. This would typically consist of an Intake Housing, Inlet Silencer Unit, an Inlet transition Unit (or elbow), expansion joint, Inlet plenum (if requested) and supports for the complete system. The silencer panels are designed by McGuffy such that we are able to achieve the desired noise reduction with minimum pressure drop associated with the system. The intake Housing includes McGuffy standard filters with a MERV rating of 11 or above with the least amount of air resistance. Weather hoods or louvers are installed on these units for protection against rain and other weather related impediments. McGuffy also has the capabilities to include anti-icing systems and evaporative cooling systems depending on “extreme cold” or “extreme hot” weather conditions.
Enclosures
McGuffy provides the experience and technical expertise to design and manufacture enclosures for rotating equipment and peripherals that address air treatment, acoustics and mechanical requirements. From panels, doors and lighting, to vents, silencers and fire control systems; McGuffy enclosures can be designed and built to customer specifications and requirements. Companies such as Pratt & Whitney, GE, Siemens Westinghouse, etc. are among the many that McGuffy has catered to in the past.
Exhaust Systems
McGuffy can design and fabricate the complete Exhaust system that would typically consist of an Exhaust plenum, Exhaust Flex Joint, Exhaust transition section, Exhaust Silencer and Empty Stack and supports; customized for the particular type of engine requested by the customer. Some of the engines serviced by McGuffy include GE Frame 3,5,6,7 and LM2500 & LM 6500 (aero derivative turbines); Siemens Westinghouse 191, 251, 250; Solar Saturn, Centaur, Taurus, Mars; etc. This system is designed for the desired sound attenuation requested by the client along with maintaining a minimal pressure drop through the system.
